Our Firm
My reason for this career path was quite personal: I saw that many members of my own family, as well as friends, were not getting the kind of help and guidance they needed to plan financially for their futures. I was confident that with my understanding and depth of knowledge of personal finance, coupled with my training as a financial professional and experiences of teaching and coaching, I could help people better prepare them for the financial success.
Growing up as the son of a college and professional football coach, playing football through college and then spending time as a teacher and coach myself, I developed a strong skill set of how to work with people to help them understand and implement many concepts. After 20 years in the business, I have developed a reputation for educating individuals in an easy-to-understand manner to help them grasp and understand personal finance ideas and use those concepts to pursue their financial objectives.
I started my career in the financial services industry with American Express Overseas Bank in Heidelberg, Germany. After 3 years of teaching and coaching, two overseas and one with the San Francisco 49ers, I returned to banking in the San Francisco Bay area. I returned to Oregon in 1997 to begin my career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones and in 2009 became an independent advisor founding McK Financial Services.
I graduated from Oregon State University in 1985. I am a LPL Financial Advisor, holding Series 7, 63, and 66 registrations with LPL Financial.
Away from work, I enjoy community work and outreach with Rotary, Meals on Wheels and local Chambers of Commerce. In my spare time, I am an avid golf enthusiast playing in tournaments around the state of Oregon. I enjoy attending a variety of sporting events like Oregon State football games, both home and away, NFL games, the Indianapolis 500 and the US Open. I enjoy cooking, exploring the fantastic Portland restaurants and food scene in the Northwest, hunting, and traveling throughout the US and internationally.
